Nichole Leigh Mosty

Chairman

Nichole Leigh Mosty was born in the United States and moved to Iceland 17 years ago. She has her B.ED in Early-Childhood Education. Nichole also has her M.Ed.-degree from the University of Iceland in school teaching and pedagogy with the elective of language and literacy in 2013.

Nichole worked as the Principal of Ösp playschool and is presently a Project manager for the city of Reykjavík at Gerðuberg library.

Nicole is a former parliamentarian of the Reykjavík District. She was the 4th Vice-President of the Althingi 2017. Allies and Education Committee 2016-2017, Welfare Committee 2017 (Chairman).

Nichole Leigh Mosty was voted on the board of W.O.M.E.N in Iceland in the year 2018.

Patience Adjahoe Karlsson

Vice-Chair

Patience Adjahoe Karlsson was born in Ghana and moved to Iceland in 2003.

In Iceland, she worked with Setberg School in Hafnarjörður, as an overseer in Kopavogsvöllur. She also worked in Coventry, England at Rica Arena sports stadium as a team leader, Care Mark as a caregiver, volunteered at British Hear Foundation as a floor salesperson and at Learnium at sales administrator. She is currently the owner and manageress of Afrozone Ehf, a shop that deals with tropical food, hair and body products.

Education: She finished a BA in International Studies in Education and M.Ed in Teaching and Learning of Foreign Languages from the University of Iceland. International Executive MBA from Reykjavik University.
She was voted in on the board of W.O.M.E.N in Iceland in 2019.

Angelique Kelley

Treasurer

Angelique is from the United States. She came to Iceland in 1987.

She was a board member on the Multicultural Council of Reykjavík for two years and administrator of ‘Away from home-living in Iceland’ on Facebook. She joined the board of W.O.M.E.N. in 2011.

Shelagh Smith

Secretary

Shelagh Smith is from South Africa has lived in Iceland since 1987. She has two grown-up children and a grandson, her favourite person on earth right now. Shelagh is a bodyworker specializing in infant craniosacral therapy and her own form of massage. She is also an EFT / Matrix Reimprinting practitioner and loves taking walks in the Icelandic nature.

Shelagh has been on the board of W.O.M.E.N since 2016.

Lisa Franco

Board member

Lisa is originally from Trinidad and Tobago. She came to Iceland in 2018. Lisa holds a degree in Psychology and Exercise physiology. Lisa has worked extensively in the fitness industry and social services. As a board member for W.O.M.E.N. She will focus on matters of gender equality for all women and creating safe spaces where these voices can be heard.

Lisa took a seat on the board of W.O.M.E.N in 2021.

Andie Sophia Fontaine

Board member

Andie Sophia Fontaine is News Editor at the Reykjavík Grapevine. She has been working as a journalist for the past 20 years and she is the only openly trans journalist in Iceland. She was the first immigrant to take a seat at the parliament, as an alternate member of parliament, in 2007. Through her work she has focused on human rights, gender equality, and the rights of New Icelanders.

As a board member for W.O.M.E.N. she will focus, amont other things, on increasing equality for all women, cis and trans together; help ensure that trans women are considered women in all aspects of society; and increase education among private companies, local government and the Parliament.

Andie was voted on the board of W.O.M.E.N. in 2020.

Kushu Gurung

Board member

Kushu came to Iceland in the year 2002 from Nepal and is a mother of two boys.

Kushu graduated from FB College in Natural Sciences and currently works as a restaurant manager. She is also a very active participant in the Nepalese society in Iceland and currently sits on the board of the Nepalese society.

Kushu was voted on the board of W.O.M.E.N in Iceland in 2019
