What is peer support?
Peer support is a ‘helpline’ for women in need offered by women who may share similar experiences here in Iceland. This is a voluntary, confidential service offered by the members W.O.M.E.N. This service is free to all women of foreign origin.
New to Iceland? Need to know your rights as a woman, wife or mother in Iceland? Looking to meet new friends? Are you interested in learning more about W.O.M.E.N?
Our volunteers are of all ages and nationalities and we offer supportive services in many languages including Icelandic, English, Polish, Lithuanian, Serbian, German, Thai, Malay, and Spanish.
Due to the recent upsurge in COVID cases and the new regulations regarding gatherings and social distancing we are unable at this time to offer peer support on Tuesday evenings. Our office does not meet the space requirements for social distancing and we do not wish to put anyone at risk of contamination.
We wish however to continue to offer women of foreign origin in need of assistance and information or support if you are in need. It is possible to contact us through our website here. Also, you can send us a private message through our Facebook page here, or send an email to us at info@womeniniceland.is. We will contact you as quickly as we possibly can.
