Samarbeta Jämt is a project organized in Malmö, Sweden, by IKF (Organization for International Women in Malmö) and financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers. A large number of associations cooperate with IKF, among them associations of immigrant women in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. Samarbeta is a meeting place for immigrant women as well as a centre of knowledge.
Their objectives include:
• to support equality and integration
• to empower the women’s movement
• to increase the participation of women in the development of their society
Samarbeta Jämt is a network helping immigrant women’s associations to work together and support each other in their projects. To reach their objectives, Samarbeta Jämt has financed computer courses for immigrant women in all Nordic countries.
In Iceland, we had the opportunity to offer such courses supported by Samarbeta Jämt in Ísafjörður, Hafnarfjörður, Akureyri and Reykjavík.
The courses were held either in the native language of the participants or in Icelandic.
