We were very honored when RIKK asked us to contribute to the publication of the #METOO compilation. We believe that our efforts to lift the voices of women of foreign origin in the Metoo movement here in Iceland were extremely important. If society is to change and adapt to the needs of all its inhabitants then society must take time to understand what is actually happening.
I am very humbled and honored to represent this organization and there with the women we represent, this coming Thursday the 8th of April here on line. I will be sitting for an important discussion with Marai Larasi a leading voice in the feminist movement. Marai has dedicated her life to ending violence against black, minority ethnic, and refugee women and girls as the executive director of the UK-based black feminist organization, Imkaan. She is also co-chair of the End Violence Against Women Coalition.

Það var okkur mikill heiður þegar RIKK bað okkur um að skrifa grein sem birtast í útgáfu á # METOO Fléttur V. Við teljum að framlag okkar til að lyfta röddum kvenna af erlendum uppruna í Metoo hreyfingunni hér á Íslandi hafi verið afar mikilvæg. Ef samfélagið á að breytast og laga sig að þörfum allra íbúa þess, verður samfélagið að taka tíma til að skilja hvað raunverulega er að gerast.
Ég er mjög auðmjúk og stolt að vera fulltrúi þessara samtaka og þar með konunum sem við erum fulltrúar, næstkomandi fimmtudag 8. apríl hér á vefnum. Ég mun sitja fyrir mikilvæga umræðu við Marai Larasi sem er leiðandi rödd í femínistahreyfingunni. Marai hefur helgað líf sitt því að binda enda á ofbeldi gegn svörtum, minnihluta þjóðerni og flóttakonum og stúlkum sem framkvæmdastjóri bresku femínistasamtakanna, Imkaan. Hún er einnig meðstjórnandi samtakanna End Violence Against Women Coalition.
