What is peer counseling?

Peer counseling is a support ‘helpline’ for women in need by women who may share similar experiences here in Iceland. This is a voluntary, confidential service offered by the members W.O.M.E.N. This service is free to all women of foreign origin.

Our volunteers are of all ages and nationalities and we offer counseling services in many languages including Icelandic, English, Polish, Lithuanian, Serbian,German, Thai, Malay  and Spanish.

Counseling takes place in our office on the 2nd floor of Túngata 14 every other Tuesday evening from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. The languages offered each week are posted on our Facebook page and private group.


W.O.M.E.N. recently finished training more of our members to participate as peer counselors.
